Diego Maradona's Cannes Festival: Foot Touch "blessed by God

Like many of us, Assaf Kabadia seems to prefer his heroes when they are fundamentally flawed.

From the Cena-winning BAFTA. The story of the life and death of the Brazilian trainee Rider Ayrton Senna, to the Academy Award-winning Amy; who recounted the rise of singer Amy Winehouse and his equally sad fall, the British director specializes in telling stories surrounding complex genius.

Few are the most suitable for this description of Argentine football star Diego Armando Maradona.

This is not the first time this troubled person, who tortured England at the 1986 World Cup, has been the subject of a new documentary - first shown at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday evening.

Capadilla's version is largely focused on his surprise mascot with Napoli, with its glorious levels in the field and its painful bottlenecks caused by cocaine.

Before his world debut, film producer James Jay Reese tells the BBC about the unforgettable time, when his friend approached the director, and his character may have been a very big figure with the star of his film.

"Asif did the interviews," he explains by telephone as he leaves for the festival.

"He was at his home [Maradona] in Dubai for an interview for the first time and Diego was watching football in the background, and that's a challenge.

"So the angle of the camera on Diego ends kneeling on the floor.

"Maradona was in his shirt and his left leg was stretched out and Asif thought that this was the foot that God blessed."

"He could not help him, he said he had suffered a moment in the flesh and continued to touch his leg.

"Maradona was like" What do you do? "
